Hello, snippeteers. Welcome back to rainbow snippets (6 sentences of LGBTQ+ fiction) and sexy snippets (7 sentences from their work-in-progress or published stories).
Don't you just love this book cover designed by the lovely Jay Aheer of Simply Defined Art? I love it!
If you missed the cover reveal last Sunday, there's still a chance to enter the giveaway to win $5 Evernight Publishing Gift Card. I will pick a winner on Monday. Go HERE for more details.
In the meantime, enjoy the next snippet from my story Live or Die which will appear in the Lawless Anthology: Manlove Edition to be published by Evernight Publishing and coming in November 2017.
For those new to this story, here's a recap. Alexei and Zakhar were old friends until Zakhar went away ten years ago. Now he's back but not exactly getting a warm welcome from Alexei.
You can catch up with the story from the opening scene.
This follows on from Snippet 8 and we're still in Zakhar's POV.
With tightness around his eyes, his unwavering dark pupils glowering at me, it looked like Alexei would pull the trigger any second and forever erase the notion of him as my protector.
Holding my breath, I sat perfectly still and held his gaze. Undercover work involved being in volatile situations and I’d mastered being cool under pressure.
Yet, as my heart raced and cold sweat ran down my back, instinct reminded me that this was Alexei who had always been unpredictable and had no qualms about spilling blood. On previous occasions, I’d been by his side, not the person staring at the nasty end of a stainless steel Beretta 9mm semi.
This wasn’t the way I’d envisioned our meeting going down and I certainly hadn’t planned on dying today.
