Hello, snippeteers. Welcome back to rainbow snippets (6 sentences of LGBTQ+ fiction) and sexy snippets (7 sentences from their work-in-progress or published stories).
Before I get to the snippet, I'm so excited to announce that my story Live or Die has been accepted by Evernight Publishing and will be one of the stories published in the Lawless Manlove Anthology coming in November 2017.
For those new to this story, here's a recap. Alexei and Zakhar were old friends until Zakhar went away ten years ago. Now he's back but not exactly getting a warm welcome from Alexei.
You can catch up with the story from the opening scene.
This follows on from Snippet 6 and we're still in Zakhar's POV.
I should’ve heeded the warning, should’ve kept my mouth shut. But I remembered the laws of the streets we’d grown up in. Whoever said ‘the meek shall inherit the earth’ had never lived in an orphanage or on the streets. The meek inherited jack all shit.
Not about to play lamb to Alexei’s lion, I mocked him, “That why you need all these men to protect you?”
In a flash, Alexei shot off his chair, gun in right hand pointed to my forehead. “I don’t need anyone to protect me from you.”
