His wide shoulders rose and fell with an indifference that didn't quite match the dark flare of his eyes. “Go ahead. Tell me why you've crawled out of your cave.”

The corner of my left eye twitched, a sure sign that his biting tone got to me.

“Not in front of them.” I tilted my head to indicate the three heavies standing in the office—two behind Alexei and one behind me.

“Then you can get out.” He returned his attention to the laptop screen, instantly dismissing me.
